Study: 7 in 10 Americans are stressed about the holidays

The holiday season is here, and according to a recent survey by Yelp, 7 in 10 Americans say they are stressed, and 6 in 10 have say they can’t wait for the holidays to be over.

The survey polled 2,250 adults living in the United States between November 16, 2017, and November 22, 2017 also found that men and women stress about different things – from cooking and cleaning, to conversation with family members.

Holiday Stress: Men vs. Women

Women report being more stressed during the holidays than men (75% of women vs. 55% of men) Women estimate they spend more time preparing for the holidays than men (women estimate 21 hours vs 16 hours from men) Women are much more likely to be stressed by cleaning (47% of women vs. 27% of men) and holiday cooking (41% of women vs. 24% of men) Men are more stressed about having to talk about… Their career (10% of men vs. 6% of women) Politics (15% of men vs. 11% of women) Religion (10% of men vs. 7% of women) Men outspend women during the holidays by 27% ($1,120.29 on average for men vs. $813.02 for women) Nearly one in five (19 percent) Americans would pay someone to take care of some or all their holiday chores.
