Steve Brown named to Bannock Commissioner post

Pocatello City Council President Steve Brown has been named to fill a Bannock County Commission vacancy. Brown was named by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter to succeed Evan Frasure on the board of county commissioners. Brown will fill the remainder of Frasure’s term which extends through 2020.

Frasure was named Idaho director of the federal Farm Service Agency. Brown is an agent with Allstate Insurance.

“I am honored by the trust Governor Otter has placed in me through this appointment and understand the responsibilities that I now have to serve all of the citizens of Bannock County,” Brown said.

Before going into the insurance business, Brown was regional director for Congressman Mike Simpson and previously served in the same role for Senator Larry Craig. He now serves on the Bannock Development Corp. board of directors and the Pocatello Development Authority’s board of commissioners. Brown said he will step down from the Pocatello City Council.

“Steve has the background, the experience and the drive to be an outstanding county commissioner,” Governor Otter said. “His commitment to the community and its citizens is unquestioned, and his understanding of the issues that matter most to the people he serves is second to none. I’m confident Steve will help his fellow commissioners ensure that Bannock County government is run efficiently, fairly and transparently.”

Brown is the son of L. Ed Brown, who served for three terms in Idaho House of Representatives from 1985-1990. He was among three nominees submitted to the Governor by the Bannock County Republican Central Committee. The other two nominees were Jason Dixon and Scott Porter.
