Mendenhall appointed Madison County Commissioner

Retired Farm Service Agency officer Brent Mendenhall has been appointed by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter to fill a vacancy on the Madison County Commission.

Mendenhall will replace Kimber Ricks, who resigned for personal and health reasons.

“Commissioner Ricks is a great friend and was an outstanding community leader for Madison County. I’m confident that his example will help inspire Commissioner Mendenhall to continue that kind of exemplary public service going forward,” the Governor said. “I’m pleased to be able to appoint a candidate as qualified and capable as Brent.”

Mendenhall, 64, will be be on the May 15 primary election ballot.

The Preston native has an associate’s degree from Ricks College and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. Mendenhall has been a management consultant since retiring from a 36-year career with USDA. He retired in 2014. He has served as vice-president and director of program development for Bridge Communications in Twin Falls for 9 years and was a Madison School District trustee for 12 years.

“What a marvelous opportunity the Governor has provided me with this appointment,” Mendenhall said. “I am anxious to serve in this county I have called home for over 35 years. I look forward to working with Commissioner Weber and Commissioner Smith. Together we will address and administer the issues and concerns of a growing county.”

Mendenhall and his wife Suzan have five grown children.
