Republican meet and greet held honoring Abraham Lincoln

Republicans throughout the region came together tonight for a candidate forum of statewide offices to celebrate the former President–who signed the bill to create the Idaho territory in 1863.

Statewide candidates participating in this years primary race were in attendance to meet and talk with the public, followed by a question and answer forum.

Some candidates in attendance were Tommy Ahlquist, Raul Labrador, and Jeff Thompson, who spoke about their hopes for the state of Idaho.

Ahlquist, who is running for Governor stated, “It’s so nice to be here in Idaho Falls tonight and be around so much energy, and great candidates that are running for office.”

Labrador, who is also running for Governor said, “Idaho is a wonderful state with great people, great families, great businesses, people that want to thrive and survive, and make the right decisions for the future of Idaho. What we need is somebody in the governor’s office that has the right vision for the state.”

Thompson, who is running for State Legislature stated, “It’s a wonderful opportunity for us as republicans to get together tonight and have a ceremony about Abraham Lincoln and to meet candidates running for statewide office.”

This forum was for Region seven, which includes the following counties: Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison and Teton.

This event was a way for voters to get to know the candidates in this year’s primary race. Elections are less than three months away.
