Family reunited with missing portrait

Missing for more than two decades. A cherished family picture has finally made its way back home.

Richard Tullock was shopping for parts when he met a man that said he had a portrait.

“He says ‘you know I got a portrait one time from a friend of mine that he said was a black cowboy roping but he couldn’t fair swear to it, he was just told that. So I said maybe one day I will come over and look at it,” says Tullock.

When that day came, he was surprised.

“He showed me this picture and he asks me, ‘you know who that guy is?’ I said I do, it’s me. And he looked at me kind of strange and I said it’s me. I can tell you exactly where that was.”

The drawing was done from a picture of Richard roping in Jackson, Wyoming. The portrait was missing for more than two decades. It was hand drawn by his brother as a gift from his wife. When the Tullocks were getting ready to move, the picture went missing.

“We had given up hopes of ever getting it back. Years and years ago we gave up hope.”

Richard’s wife, Patty, shared the story on Facebook and didn’t expect what happened next.

“I posted that post on Facebook and since it’s gotten hundreds of likes and shares,” says Patty Tullock.

The Tullocks aren’t sure how it ended up in Fremont County but they’re happy to have it back.

“It’s been almost 26 years ago that that photo came up missing and we got it back. We’re happy, grateful, shocked, amazed. Anyway, however, it happened we’re happy to have that portrait back in our family and being able to display it,” says Patty Tullock.
