Man accused of breaking in Wyoming governor’s house
A 35-year-old man accused of breaking into the Wyoming governor’s home in Cheyenne has requested an attorney be appointed to represent him.
Antoine Lewis made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Thursday through a video teleconference from the county jail where he is being held.
According to police, Lewis was found hiding in a bathroom of the governor’s residence with a hunting knife after he broke in and set off a fire alarm at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Republican Gov. Matt Mead and his family were inside the home at the time but not harmed.
Lewis is charged with felony aggravated burglary and misdemeanor criminal entry.
Circuit Judge Denise Nau set Lewis’ preliminary hearing for March 15 and his bail at $15,000 cash.
