East Idaho Home and Garden Show taking place this weekend

Spring will soon be upon us and many are ready to get their houses and gardens in shape for the warmer weather. This weekend, the East Idaho Home and Garden Show can help.

“It’s all anything home and garden related,” Lauren Harwood, owner of Elite Events, the company hosting the show, said. “So anything for your yard, anything for your kitchen, anything for remodeling. If you want to build a brand new house, we have contractors here too to help you help you build that dream home too.”

The show is not only for adults. They’ll have several activities to keep kids busy while parents browse.

“We have a seed planting station for kids to come in and they can get down and dirty and play in the dirt and take the seeds home that they plant,” said Harwood. “We also have a live butterfly tent where kids can come in and learn about painted lady butterflies. And we have a entertainment stage full of live entertainement.”

The event is also an opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves.

“Some people aren’t aware of some of the things and different companies that are around in this area,” Tyler Waid who works for CK’s Windows and Doors, one of the vendors at the show, said. “And so it’s a great opportunity for us to get our names out, other people to get their names out, starting businesses or businesses that have been around for a long time that nobody knows about.”

The event is also a chance to get a feel of the warmer days to come.

“In our community it’s nice to have something in the spring when it’s the weather is not super nice to be outside, but warm enough that you want to be out doing something,” said Harwood. “So, this event is the perfect event to bring the whole family together. There’s fun things for the kids, fun things for the parents.”

The show takes place at Kingston Plaza tomorrow from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $3. Tomorrow, senior citizens and veterans can get in free until 5 p.m. Kids 12 and under are free. You can also get free tickets at Camping World or Snake River Satellite.
