Only Irish Dance Academy in Southeast Idaho comes to Rigby

Whether you’re seven or seventy-seven, O Aois Caite Dance Academy is hoping to bring new meaning to Irish dance, and educate about it’s unique and historic style. Students learn traditional Irish step dancing, which has been around for hundreds of years, in both solo and folk dancing.

Owner Heidi Pearce and Lisa Hess even taught me a lesson on standard footwork. “It’s a really fun activity, lots of people love to watch it, because it gets your feet tapping and it’s a very exciting form of dancing.” said Hess.

Student Emmett balances soccer and school with a hour a week dedicated to perfecting his skill, stating, “My favorite dance is reel, warrior reeling.”

“The name of the school: O Aois Caite, is Galic. It means from ages past. And I just wanted to bring the history of Irish Dance into our school, and to me it’s just very important to have it founded on correct technique and just love the history of Ireland and dancing.”

Those Irish dance students have been preparing to perform at the “Saint Patty’s Day On Park”, which ran Saturday afternoon.
