Flood Warning for Custer, Butte and Clark Counties

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a

* Flood Warning for…
Rain and Snowmelt in…
Central Butte County in southeastern Idaho…

* Until 1245 PM MDT Friday

* At 641 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain,
combined with snow melting has caused flooding. Up to three inches
of rain have already fallen. This much rain has melted the
existing snow almost completely, causing flooding even on flat
ground, a phenomenon known as sheet flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Arco, Moore and Butte City.

Additional rainfall amounts of 0.05 to 0.25 of an inch are possible
in the warned area tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Clark County in southeastern Idaho…

* Until 1230 PM MDT Friday

* At 626 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain will
cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. Reports
from emergency management officials also indicate numerous road
washouts. The warm rain is also melting existing snow, increasing
the flooding potential with the additional water.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Dubois, Idmon, Spencer, Kilgore, Edie School, Small, Lone Pine and
Humphrey.

Additional rainfall amounts of 0.10 to 0.50 of an inch are possible
in the warned area.

deaths occur in vehicles.

Rain and Snowmelt in…
Southeastern Custer County in central Idaho…
West central Butte County in southeastern Idaho…

* Until 1115 AM MDT Friday

* At 509 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the Antelope Creek drainage from
Grouse to near the town of Darlington. The heavy rain, which has
also partially melted existing snow, will cause flooding.
Approximately 0.55 to 0.75 of an inch of rain has fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Grouse, the town of Lost River, and Darlington.

Additional rainfall amounts of 0.10 of an inch are possible in the
warned area. However, much of the water is from melted snow.

Flood waters are moving down Antelope Creek from Grouse to near
Darlington.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain will
cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hailey, Ketchum, Sun Valley, Carey, Little Wood Reservoir, Picabo,
Bellevue and Gannett.

Additional rainfall amounts of up to 0.35 inch are possible in the
warned area.
