Alta native seeking Wyoming treasurer job
Alta, Wyoming native Leland Christensen has announced he’ll be a candidate for Wyoming Treasurer this year.
Christensen, a republican, is in the last year of his second State Senate term.
Under its new budget, Christensen said Wyoming faces a $1 billion structural deficit, even though spending reductions have been made over the several budget years.
“This funding gap is eating through Wyoming’s savings. It’s unsustainable over the long term. Wyoming families find ways to pay their bills, even if that means taking on an extra shift or getting a second job to meet their obligations,” said Christensen. “The real solution is Wyoming should be seeking ways to put our money to work overtime, so taxpayers don’t have to see more of their hard-earned money scooped up by the taxman to make up for budget shortfalls.”
Christensen served 15 years in the 19th Special Forces Airborne Army and the National Guard and had a 20-year career in Lincoln and Teton County law enforcement. He was twice elected to the Teton County Board of County Commissioners.
