Wanted suspect arrested after short police chase
A man has been arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase down Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls.
According to Holly Cook, Idaho Falls Police Department spokeswoman, Pedro Lopez, 25 was wanted on six warrants.
Lopez, also known as “Lil South, is a known gang member.
Idaho Falls police officers along with Bonneville County sheriff deputies found Lopez near Tautphas Park.
Lopez took off at high speeds, going around 80 miles per hour.
His car started smoking and he was forced to pull over near the BMW dealership.
Lopez refused to get out his car, so officers pulled him out.
He continued fighting with officers, so one officer used his taser to stun him and arrested him.
He is booked into Bonneville County Jail on the following charges: Flee or attempt to elude a police officer in a motor vehicle, assault or battery upon certain personnel, reckless driving, drug paraphernalia – use or possess with intent to use, resisting or obstructing officers, driver’s license violation, 3 counts of failure to appear and probation violation.
