ASPCA awards Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue grant for kennel modifications

The Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue has been awarded $39,000 in grant money, since teaming up with Snake River Animal Shelter last October.

Most recently the rescue was awarded $25,000 for kennel renovations by the ASPCA. There will be installed outdoor kennels for dogs and indoor kennels for cats as well as kennel barriers for the indoor dog kennels. The shelters hopes the grant that will give major improvements to the humane housing of the homeless animals at the Blackfoot shelter.

“If you go to the facility today, it’s chained linked and all the animals can breath on each other,” said Kristin Sanger, the Executive Director, SRAS and Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue. “Those barriers help create a more sanitary environment as well as create some privacy for the animals which keeps them happier and less stressed.”

The Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue has seen the number of adoptions double at that facility since teaming up. As well, cat lives saved has increased by 40%.
