Man charged after displaying guns at Fort Hall casino
Fort Hall Police arrested Jon Davenport, 44, of Idaho Falls shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Police were called after reports that Davenport pulled out a gun on the casino floor and abducted two people.
Casino dispatch said all three left in a vehicle belonging to one of the suspects. Davenport left his vehicle parked at the casino.
Police went to one of the subject’s tribal residence in Ross Fork District. They were not located there, but were found in Gibson District on the reservation.
Davenport was arrested without further incident.
According to reports, police found two firearms and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle the three people drove away from the casino.
Police determined there was no abduction and that Davenport was intoxicated and distraught when he went to the casino. When he met his friends there he displayed his firearm inside the casino. Police said Davenport’s friend took the gun from him and walked out of the casino.
Davenport then pulled out a second firearm from a concealed shoulder holster he was wearing.
Police said Davenport admitted being in possession of both firearms and being intoxicated when entering the casino. He was taken to the Bingham County Jail and charged with disturbing the peace.
The incident was investigated by Fort Hall Police, the FBI, and Bingham County Sheriff’s Office.
