Fire station construction contracts awarded
Wapiti Construction has won a contract to a temporary fire station and complete a remodel of Fire Station #1 in Jackson.
The Teton County Board of County Commissioners, acting on behalf of the Town of Jackson, received two bids. Wapiti was the low bidder on both projects. The total bid of $6,543,700 was nearly $4 million under the second bid from GE Johnson.
A portion of the cost, $482,000 will be funded by SPET sales tax revenue.
Under the contract, the Pavilion Temporary Fire Station will be built at 305 West Snow King Avenue in Jackson. It is currently a partially un-enclosed arena. It will be used as a temporary fire station while the Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Station One is expanded.
That project is located at 40 East Pearl Avenue. The contractor will demolish and dispose of portions of the existing building, the renovate and construct new building elements. Ultimately, Fire Station One will be about 17,500 square feet.
Firefighters are expected to begin moving into the temporary facility early this winter.
