Coldwater Fire 70 percent contained
UPDATE 6/15/18 3:00 p.m. The Bureau of Land Management reports the Coldwater Fire is now 70 percent contained.
Firefighters made significant progress during the last 24 hours and do not expect additional perimeter growth.
Officials flying in a helicopter estimate the fire to be around 800 acres and 70 percent contained.“Firefighters are focusing operational efforts on removing heat from torching juniper stands,” said Incident Commander Marcus Green. “The precipitation definitely helped slow the fire’s progression, allowing us to focus on bolstering containment lines.” Green is confident the fire will be contained later this evening.
Six heavy engines, one light engine, one dozer and the Portneuf fuels crew are working on the fire.
UPDATE 6/14/1810:00 p.m.The Bureau of Land Management reports the Coldwater Fire has burned approximately 800 acres.
Officials said the fire started around 2:00 p.m. and is burning in grass, brush and juniper.
Aerial resources are assisting ground efforts.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Bureau of Land Management reports the Coldwater Fire has burned approximately 450 acres southwest of American Falls.
The fire is burning about 5 miles southwest of the Rim Fire, which started on Friday.
BLM says several resources are fighting the fire including 5 engines, a medium helicopter for bucket work and resources from the American Falls Fire Department.
Officials estimate containment at 8 p.m. Friday.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
