Shelley girl dies of crash injuries

A 17-year-old Shelley girl has died of injuries sustained in a crash east of Shelley. Idaho State Police announced Saturday night the juvenile, who was not identified, died at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center at 11:03 p.m. Thursday.

The accident happened at 3:35 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 1100 East and 1400 North.

ISP said the girl was driving a 2000 Ford Focus. She was following a Caterpillar Road Grader driven by Royce Samargis, 39, also of Shelley. She attempted to pass the grader as it was turning left from 1100 East onto 1400 North. The car struck the side of the Caterpillar and then struck an electric pole.
