Judge sentences 2 to jail for exposing 11-month-old to drugs
A man and woman have been sentenced to jail time for exposing a baby to methamphetamine often enough that the child tested positive for the drug.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports that Teton County District Judge Timothy Day on Tuesday ordered Shawn Michael Myers and Cheyenne Wood to each serve six months behind bars and five years on probation.
Day says exposing an 11-month-old defenseless infant to the drugs is an outrageous breach of parental responsibility and a true endangerment.
The 24-year-old Wood and 25-year-old Myers are both from Driggs, Idaho. They were dating in December 2017 when they were arrested in Teton County for endangering Wood’s baby and for possessing methamphetamine and marijuana.
The baby’s biological father has had temporary full custody since Wood’s arrest.
