Frank VanderSloot sets world rowing record

Frank VanderSloot now holds another title in addition to C-E-O of Melaleuca.

He is the new title holder in the 100 meter concept 2 rowing machine 100 meter sprint for 70 year olds.

Hundreds of Melaleuca employees were watching today as he beat the record. Each rowing machine connects to a massive worldwide database to confirm the time.

With a time of 14.4 seconds, VanderSloot smashed the previous record of 15.3 seconds.

Vandersloot admits this was a bit of a publicity stunt for his 70th birthday. He credits much of his success to the Melaleuca Peak Performance pack of nutritional supplements. He says scientific studies show it reduces the effects of aging.

Sunday he said if he didn’t break the record, he would resign as C-E-O. But now he says he plans to stick around for another 10 years. After he broke the record, he said he had made his point.

” The point I want to make is Melaleuca has a lot of good products but the Peak Performance Pack – that’s our premier product. That’s our leading product. There’s a lot of great science behind it that it helps you stay younger longer. I wanted to prove the point that it’s helping me stay younger longer by going against the world’s best athletes in this sport and set a new world record and I think I made my point.”

VanderSloot said he experienced some fear going into the today ‘ s challenge.

“Lots of fear. I knew I was laying it all on the line. I was confident I could do it, but a lot of things could go wrong. It’s all measured in tenths of a second, so one missed pull and you’ve blown it.”

VanderSloot said he actually posted his best time in practice yesterday at 14.3 seconds. That was the last day before he turned 70 and that time actually broke the record for 60 year olds, so he broke two records in two days.
