Cheyenne man charged with May killing

Wyoming prosecutors have charged a 25-year-old man in a May shooting near Cheyenne that left one man dead and a woman injured.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports Frank McHenry is charged with first-degree and attempted murder charges.

Authorities say 61-year-old Joseph S. Tortolito, of Cheyenne, was shot several times and his body was found May 11 in a junk pile south of Cheyenne.

McHenry was recently returned from the Wyoming State Hospital, where it was determined he was mentally competent to stand trial and assist in his own defense.

In a hearing Thursday, McHenry’s attorney did not dispute the hospital findings and a preliminary hearing was set for Aug. 24.

McHenry is currently being held without bail.
