Man killed after crashing into potato hauler

A Utah man was killed after crashing into a potato hauler on Interstate 86 in Power County on Saturday night.

Dean Rottini, of Toole, was traveling west on I-86 near Arbon Valley. Christian Saldana, of American Falls, was also heading west on the interstate in a potato hauler.

According to Idaho State Police, Rottini’s vehicle collided into the rear of the potato hauler. Both vehicles then came to a stop on the right shoulder of the road.

Rottini was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. He was not wearing a seat belt.

ISP say that Rottini died from his injuries at the medical center around 8:30 p.m.

Saldana was wearing a seat belt and did not need to be transported.
