Missing child report leads to drug arrests

Rexburg Police arrested two people Sunday after investigating a report of a lost child.

According to police reports, a six-year-old boy left his apartment in the Twin Pines Apartment Complex at 160 West 1st North at around 6:49 p.m. Sunday. Another tenant found him, but the boy could not remember where he lived.

Police were called and found the child’s mother, who was visiting a neighbor. When they returned to her apartment they noticed the smell of marijuana and found a man in the back of the apartment.

Melinda Honor Lorenz, 50, and Robert Allen Aragon, 40, were both arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and Aragon was also charged with intent to distribute. Both also face misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and injury to a child.

The young boy was placed into the custody of a friend.
