Local store offers gluten-free substitutions for Thanksgiving
With Thanksgiving on Thursday, it is a time to chow down on a lot of food. But many people cannot enjoy the same meals a lot of people eat on this holiday. One Ammon store is doing its part to aid in the gluten-avoidance quest.
“We are here to help those who can’t have gluten be able to eat food that tastes normal and is affordable,” said McKenna Lewis, an employee at Mom’s Place.
Mom’s Place offers a gluten-free Thanksgiving dinner special.
“It has 10 products in it and its only $49.99 so it’s really affordable,” said Cara Giles, an employee at Mom’s Place. “You get a super good deal with it when you get the pack. It’s just awesome because it helps so many people for Thanksgiving and it makes them feel so much better. They can feel like they’re enjoying time with their family more.”
The store is not just for eastern Idaho’s consumption.
“We ship everywhere,” Lewis said “We have shipped about 2,000 packages just in the month of November.”
The store also carries other products for people with allergies. Like peanut-free, lactose-free, soy-free and more.
“Their reactions are our favorite. ” Giles said. “We will tell them and they’ll be so shocked and will be so happy. They just can’t believe they didn’t know about this before and how many options they can eat now.”
Mom’s Place also offers many different recipes online, with a featured gluten-free recipe each month.
