Winter Weather Advisory issued as snow moves in tonight and Friday

A warm front on the move Thursday evening will usher in snow showers to Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming. We’re expecting to see low cloud cover, fog then overnight snow showers with more scattered snow showers all day on Friday.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of Eastern Idaho.

Included in this Advisory are Arco, Mud Lake, INL Desert, Upper Snake River Plain including the cities of Mud Lake, Idaho Falls, and Rexburg

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO

MIDNIGHT MST FRIDAY NIGHT…

* WHAT…Snow expected. Plan on slippery road conditions. 1 to 3 inches is possible by Friday morning with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible Friday afternoon and Friday night. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected.

* WHERE…Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Rigby, St. Anthony and Idaho National Labs.

* WHEN…Expect two main batches of snow. First batch will arrive this evening and exit the area Friday morning. The second batch of snow arrives Friday afternoon and persists through Friday night.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
