Lent steps down from board to take Senate seat

Idaho Falls School Board Trustee Dave Lent has formally resigned his Zone 2 position on the board.

Lent was elected to the Idaho Senate in District 33 during the November election. He was elected to the Distict 91 School Board in 2006.

Zone 2 represents the areas served by Westside, Fox Hollow, and Ethel Boyes elementary schools.

“We are saddened to see Dave Lent leave the D91 School Board,” said Board Chair Deidre Warden. “He has been a strong leader and has always sought solutions that bring people together rather than divide them. While we will miss Dave Lent’s presence on our board, we are proud he will continue his love of community service on the state level.”

The school board will accept letters of interest from anyone interested in filling the Zone 2 position. Those letters are due by Friday, December 21.

Those letters should include a candidate’s qualifications and reasons he or she would like to serve. Candidates must be 18 years old or older, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Idaho and a resident of Zone 2.

Letters should be sent to the district’s administrative offices at 690 John Adams Parkway.

The full school board expects to interview candidates during the week of January 7, 2019 and swear in a replacement Wednesday, January 16. The position will be up for election in 2021.
