Idaho Falls to rename street for Congressman Simpson

At request of the Idaho National Laboratory, the city of Idaho Falls is planning to change the name of University Boulevard in the name of Second District Congressman Mike Simpson and his wife Kathy. It will be known as MK Simpson Boulevard.

Regional Economic Development CEO Dana Kirkham has endorsed the move.

In a letter to the City Council, Kirkham said the Republican congressman has dedicated decades of service to eastern Idaho and the state.

Simpson’s political career began as a member of the Blackfoot City Council, to Speaker of the Idaho House, and then election to Congress.

“Suffice it to say,” said Kirkham, “that I can think of no one more deserving of having University Boulevard renamed in his or her honor and commend you for moving forward to make this idea a reality.”

University Boulevard is the main access for several key INL facilities including the Idaho Energy Laboratory and CAES, the Center for Advanced Energy Studies.
