Bonneville County Sheriff’s close office for upgrades

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office concealed weapon license and sex offender registration is closed Wednesday.

The office closure is required because staff need to install, test and train users on new equipment.

The equipment will provide electronic fingerprint image transmission to the State of Idaho.

The Sheriff’s Office said the new updates will make the process much faster and efficient. Previously, the office would have to scan, print, then mail the fingerprints to other counties.

“It makes it a little more instantaneous, saves on that time to get the background check for someone that’s applying for a concealed weapons permit,” said Sgt. Bryan Lovell of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

This process will be tying into all of the counties in Idaho.

The Sheriff’s Office said the concealed weapon license and sex offender registration will be back open on Thursday.
