Judge Greg Moeller sworn to Idaho Supreme Court

Former 7th District Judge Greg Moeller of Rexburg has been formally installed as Idaho’s newest Supreme Court Justice.

An investiture ceremony was held in Boise Thursday.

A number of eastern Idaho leaders traveled to Boise for the ceremony to participate in the swearing-in ceremony conducted by outgoing Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter. Rexburg Senator Brent Hill and Chief Justice Roger Burdick also participated.

Moeller is the first new Justice to be appointed from eastern Idaho since 1989.

Known for his admiration of the novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, Moeller said, “I have no agenda, but Justice. I understand that the oath I just took means I have committed to be a guardian of the Constitution, and a defender of the Rule of Law. Like the fictional Atticus Finch, I believe that our courts are the ‘great levelers.’ … I am committed to helping Idaho achieve the aspirations of the Declaration of Independence; that we not only recognize that all men and women are created equally, but we ensure that they are treated equally.”
