Governor to make Sugar City appointments

It will be up to the Governor to appoint people to two of three vacancies on the Sugar City City Council.

Governor Brad Little says he is accepting applications by April 30 for two positions on the council.

Three of the city’s four council members submitted letters of resignation on April 12. Vaun Waddell, Joy Ball, and Bruce King resigned their positions. Councilman Brent Barrus and Mayor Dave Ogden survived recall elections March 12.

After Little appoints people to two of the vacancies to establish a quorum of the council, the Mayor can appoint the fourth council vacancy with the consent of the city council.

The appointments will be valid until the next city election, at which time the position will be filled for the balance of the original term.

Applicants for the appointment must be a qualified elector and resident of Sugar City. The application is available here.

Specific questions about the appointment process can be directed to Zach Forster in the governor’s office at 208-334-2100.
