$1M bond for man accused of abducting Idaho girl

The Latest on the abduction of a 17-year-old girl from Idaho who has been found in Arizona and the suspect arrested:

Bond has been set at $1 million for an 18-year-old man accused of abducting a teenage girl in Idaho before being arrested in Arizona.

Police in the Phoenix suburb of Surprise say Miguel Rodriguez-Perez was taken into custody without incident early Tuesday after he fled a traffic stop and abandoned his car.

Rodriguez-Perez and the 17-year-old girl were later found hiding underneath some bushes.

Police say the teen appeared unharmed and was waiting to be reunited with her family.

Rodriguez-Perez was jailed for being a fugitive from justice and didn’t have an attorney at his initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say Rodriguez-Perez allegedly abducted the girl from her job Sunday at a Wendy’s restaurant in Jerome, Idaho.

The girl had an order of protection against Rodriguez-Perez.

Authorities say a 17-year-old girl abducted from the Wendy’s restaurant where she worked in Idaho has been found in Arizona along with the man accused of taking her.

Police tell KNXV-TV 18-year-old Miguel Rodriguez-Perez was taken into custody without incident early Tuesday in Surprise, Arizona. Police say the girl appeared unharmed.

Authorities say Rodriguez-Perez forced her from the restaurant where she worked in Jerome, Idaho, on Sunday evening. According to an Amber Alert, she had an order of protection against Rodriguez-Perez because he had threated and assaulted her in the past.

Police in Surprise spotted his vehicle and chased it. The vehicle was found abandoned. A search led to the girl and the suspect.

UPDATE 5:28 a.m. Tuesday: An Idaho teen who was abducted from her workplace in Jerome has been found safe following an AMBER Alert.

Officers say the suspect, 18-year-old Miguel Rodriguez-Perez, is now in police custody.

Police in Surprise, Arizona were able to find the two after a search when the suspect’s car was found abandoned.

PREVIOUS UPDATE 9:30 p.m. Monday: The suspect’s phone was pinged to a cell tower in Kingman, Ariz according to KTVK/KPHO in Phoenix.

Police spotted the Miguel Rodriguez-Perez’s car near the area of Grand Avenue and Deer Valley near Surprise, Ariz. However, the car was empty. Officials are currently setting up a perimeter and helicopters are searching in the area.

There are four agencies on the scene assisting the FBI in the search, DPS, Peoria, Surprise and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

KNXV said Rodriguez-Perez has connections to Mexico and they belive he was trying to cross the border.

An Amber Alert has been issued for an abducted child in Jerome.

The FBI is looking for 17-year-old Sandra Janet Rios-Chavez who was last seen in Jerome and is believed to be in danger.

It is currently believed Rios-Chavez may have been forcibly kidnapped by 18-year-old Miguel Rodriguez-Perez on Sunday at approximately 6:00 p.m. at Wendy’s restaurant parking lot located at 2816 South Lincoln Ave in Jerome.

Rios-Chavez is described as a Hispanic female with black hair, brown eyes, 5 foot 3 inches weighing 122 pounds. She was last seen wearing a Wendy’s uniform.

Rodriguez-Perez is described as a Hispanic male with black hair, brown eyes, 6 foot weighing 180 pounds. He is described to have a tattoo on his left and right arms.

Rodriquez-Perez is known to drive a 2015 black Audi A4 with an Idaho license plate of 2J83179. He may be driving towards Las Vegas.
