Idaho Falls Chukars announce 2019 opening day roster

The Idaho Falls Chukars and the Kansas City Royals revealed the 30 man opening day roster for the 2019 season on Thursday. Seven players are returning to Idaho Falls after spending some time in a Chukar uniform last season.

Tyler James is the most prominent returner from 2018. Despite playing just 47 games, he led the Pioneer League in stolen bases with 38 last season. The other returning players are infielder Rafael Romero, catcher Chris Hudgins.

Brady Cox is back, but will be transitioning from catcher to pitcher this season. Pitchers Jaret Hellinger, Nathan Webb, and Rylan Kaufman round out the returners. You can see the full roster here.

The Chukars will play an exhibition game against the AA Legion team Idaho Falls Bandits before hitting the road to start the season in Billings on Friday.
