Idaho Falls Fiber connecting 3rd phase

Idaho Falls Fiber has announced its next expansion.

The fiber network has now expanded to include residents on Sycamore Circle, Hickory Lane, Hickory Court, Hickory Circle, Tuscany Drive, Burgundy Drive and Napa Drive.

“It’s a true sign of progress with our Residential Fiber Pilot Program as we add more available addresses for fiber connection,” Idaho Falls Power and Idaho Falls Fiber General Manager Bear Prairie said. “We encourage eligible customers to take advantage of this service and sign up!”

The network will provide residential internet service of up to one gigabyte.

Idaho Falls Fiber has partnered with four local internet providers. Direct Communications, Qwk.net, Silver Star, and SUMO Fiber can offer residents a variety of services and pricing. Once residents sign up for service and select a provider, Idaho Falls Fiber schedules a site survey for installation of actual fiber to the residence. Once that is installed, the local provider will begin actual Internet service.

Construction of the third phase of the pilot program is continuing. Contractors are completing electrical and communication infrastructure upgrades, which will not only access high-speed internet, but also help Idaho Falls Power better maintain electric service reliability. There is currently no connection charge for the installation of the fiber line. That allows residents to take advantage of the pilot program to get a fiber connection into their home at no cost.
