Sheriff’s Office advises: beware of out-of-town solicitors

Home and business owners are being advised to be wary of out-of-town contractors.

The Teton County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Office said a group of supposed contractors are going door-to-door offering to repave driveways for a fee. The Sheriff’s Office said it has learned the company uses inferior products and, after the work is done, will not respond to make necessary repairs.

If approached by an unsolicited contractor, ask for references and contact numbers and always be cautious. And, never pay in advance.

In most Idaho communities, door-to-door solicitors are required to obtain a local permit.
