Los Adalbertos Robbed At Gunpoint In Idaho Falls

Five armed men entered Los Adalbertos Mexican restaurant and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The robbery took place at 3:15 a.m. at 900 E. 17th St. There was one male employee on duty when the five men entered the Mexican restaurant, police said.

“You can imagine being by yourself or even with a co-worker in a business and having two to five people rush in with guns and start yelling at you ‘Don’t move. Keep your hands up, where is the money.’ You know barking orders at you and staring down a barrel of a gun,” said Capt. Ken Brown of the Idaho Falls Police Department.

The men left in a unknown direction. It is unclear if they were in a vehicle or on foot.

The victim told police all of the men were wearing ski masks. One man was African-American and around 6 feet tall. Three of the men were white.

The Idaho Falls Police Department said the victim was not injured but very frightened.

This is the second armed robbery in Idaho Falls in as many days. The Common Cents convenience store on West Broadway was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday.

Idaho Falls police said they are not ruling out the possibility the two robberies are connected.

“The way they entered, the way their mannerisms were, the weapons used, it looks like it was possibly the same group of people that did the Common Cents one,” said Brown. “To have two armed robberies in two nights is not normal.”

Brown said the employees in both robberies did the right thing.

“What they (employees) did correct is they didn’t fight with them. Someone who has a gun has the drop on you. Even a quarter second pull of a trigger and the bullet is on its way. As I explained before you can replace money, you can’t replace a life,” said Brown.

Brown urges everyone to be the best witness they can. If you know anything, he said, don’t try and take justice into your own hands. Contact the Idaho Falls Police Department at 529-1200 or Crimestoppers at 522-1983.

The Idaho Falls Police Department is working with Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office to see if these robberies have any connection to the Gun Store robbery.
