Blackfoot Council Works On 2012 Budget

The Blackfoot City Council is working to set its 2012 budget. Mayor Mike Virtue said there won’t be any major cuts but also no major projects.

Virtue said the council has had two meetings already, and preliminary discussions will continue on Tuesday night, with a vote on where to cap the budget.

He said it’s mostly a matter of pluses and minuses, trying to keep up with rising costs elsewhere.

“Most increments are paying more for fertilizer for the golf course, more for fuel for police and fire,” said Virtue. “Most are those kinds of things.”

Tuesday’s City Council meeting is at 7 p.m.

On Aug.16 there will be a public hearing before final approval.
