PMC Finalizing Cancer Center
The final piece of the new Portneuf Medical Center will finally be in place this month. The hospital is in the process of moving and opening its new cancer center.
The center features new radiation technology that can provide treatment to patients who may have had to travel to Salt Lake previously. It also combines different stages of treatment into one location to cut down on travel for patients. Add to that some creature comforts like quilts and televisions at IV stations, and board certified radiation oncologist Michael Callaghan, M.D. said, this is a huge thing for cancer patients.
“I think anything that we do that takes any bit of stress and confusion out of a patient’s care improves their outcome. And I think a lot of the little things we’ve done and a lot of the big things we’re going to do will do that,” he said.
The grand opening for the center will be Aug. 26.
