Motorist Jailed In Road Rage Screwdriver Stabbing
A 57-year-old man is in jail after police say he stabbed another motorist with a screwdriver in an apparent road rage incident.
Manuel Cuevas Lopez of Woods Cross is held in the Davis County jail on charges of aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing 34-year-old Jason Chavez Thursday in the parking lot of a Centerville muffler shop.
Police say Chavez was driving a Honda Pilot on Interstate 15 when he ended up behind a slow-moving box truck driven by Lopez. Chavez passed the box truck and says Lopez later started throwing items at his SUV.
The two drivers pulled into a parking lot for a confrontation when Lopez allegedly stabbed Chavez in the stomach.
Lopez tells police the stabbing was an act of self-defense.
Chavez was being treated for injuries.
