Mistrial Declared In 1 Blackfoot Hazing Case

The trial for the last person believed to be involved in the Blackfoot High School hazing case ended in a mistrial on Monday.

After the jury was chosen for Anthony Clarke’s portion of the trial, the Bingham County Prosecutor?s Office said one of the jurors said she had a problem that she thought would interfere with the case, leaving them with only five jurors.

The defense attorney didn’t like the idea of only five jurors, so the judge was forced to declare a mistrial, the prosecutor?s office said.

A new trial is slated to begin on Oct. 17.

Clarke is charged with three counts of false imprisonment and two counts of battery.

Three other former Blackfoot High School athletes were also charged in the reported hazing during the 2009-2010 basketball season.

Logan Chidester, Tyson Katseanes and Nathan Walker all made plea deals in the case.
