Hospital Surgeon Takes Back His Resignation

Portneuf Medical Center announced Wednesday something administrators said is a big deal for the future of the hospital’s heart center.

PMC’S chief of cardiac surgery is staying.

Dr. Jacob DeLaRosa had received a tempting job offer from Catholic Health East in New Jersey.

DeLaRosa had already announced his resignation to PMC, but said he soon began to hear from many of his former patients.

After considering the people he’d helped here in southeast Idaho, DeLaRosa decided he needed to stay and continue working to build the hospital’s heart program.

“What I realized was that my life was also affected by all of these people in a tremendous way, and because of that I have decided to stay and engage myself in the continued development of the quality of this program here,? DeLaRosa said.
