Salvation Army Gets Much Needed Donation
The Salvation Army in Pocatello received a much needed donation this afternoon from the local Rotary clubs.
The combined efforts of all four Pocatello Rotary clubs were able to donate $1,066 to the Salvation Army, as a part of the One Meal, Once a Year fundraiser campaign. The money was raised after the Rotary District Governor gave up a meal at each of her meetings with the local clubs, stashed the money in a lunch box and encouraged the members to do the same.
Service Center Coordinator Brenda Ames said they need the money now more than ever. More people are asking for help, and the Salvation Army is struggling with what Ames called a “food crisis.”
“We’ve had an increase in requests for that type of service, and so our food supply is dwindling rapidly. So these funds will go a long way, if we need to, to purchase food, we can do that. And this will help out a lot,” said Ames.
She said that they never run out of vegetables, and her shelves for the food group are completely empty right now.
To donate food or money, drop by the Salvation Army at 400 North 4th Avenue or call them at 208-232-5318.
