Utah Teen Sentenced In iPod Dispute Slaying
A Utah teen who pleaded guilty to a murder stemming from a dispute over a stolen iPod has been ordered to serve a prison term of 15 years to life.
Court records show 19-year-old Joshua Buie was sentenced Tuesday in West Jordan’s 3rd District Court.
In May, Buie pleaded guilty to one count of murder for the 2009 shooting death of 21-year-old Stephen Lasiloo.
Authorities say Buie got out of a car and shot Lasiloo multiple times in the chest as he walked down the street with his sister and a cousin. All four had been at the same party where an argument broke out about a stolen iPod.
Also Tuesday, Judge Mark Kouris ordered Buie to pay restitution in the case. Prosecutors have six months to determine an amount.
