Tech. Center Evacuation Investigation Continues

Investigation into the Wednesday evacuation of the Bonneville County Technology Center on Technology Drive in Idaho Falls is continuing.

Idaho Falls Fire Marshal Ken Anderson says the building is designed for laboratory testing. He believes a chemical reaction created an unpleasant odor. It was that odor that prompted evacuation of the building shortly before noon Wednesday.

No one was seriously hurt.

Local News 8 has learned the building is leased by multiple entities. But Idaho State University spokesperson Andy Taylor says the University is not currently one of them. In fact, ISU says it has not used the building for about four years.

Anderson says the Fire Department will be reviewing the amount and type of materials used there and whether corrective actions are required.
