Body Of Fallen Soldier To Arrive Sunday

The arrangements for the homecoming of fallen Idaho Falls soldier Sgt. Ryan Sharp, 28, have been released by the military.

Col. Tim Marsano of the Idaho National Guard said, Sharp’s body is scheduled to arrive Sunday, Dec. 11, at 12:45 p.m. at Aero Mark terminal off International Way at the Idaho Falls Airport.

His funeral is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Rock LDS Stake Center on Charlotte Drive. The burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, said Marsano.

The family welcomes all that wish to come pay their respects, including motorcycle and police escorts, said Mike McLendon, chairman of the Military Affairs Committee.

Sharp died Saturday at a Germany hospital from wounds he suffered in Afghanistan on Nov. 21.

The Department of Defense reported Sharp and his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Kandahar province.

Sharps sister Michelle Harrison said he is survived by his wife and their 6 and 8-year-old girls.

A memorial fund has been established in his name at Westmark Credit Union in Idaho Falls.
