Ice Rink Opens In Chubbuck
With the temperature dropping, Pocatello and Chubbuck locals are now able to take to the ice.
The community ice skating rink in Chubbuck is now open to the public for the first time this season.
Workers said they spent hundreds of hours over the past few weeks getting the rink ready for kids and adults anxious to get their skates out of storage.
And that hard work has paid off. The rink is open two weeks before it was able to open it’s doors last year.
The ice rink is free to the public, and is the only place in the Pocatello and Chubbuck area for any type of ice skating.
Chubbuck and Pocatello Hockey Association President Diane Haviland said the rink helps give people plenty of extra reasons to get excited for wintery weather.
“We have kids from 5 to15 skating for the hockey association. Plus there’s figure skating, curling, speed skating; there’s a million different things to do on ice,? Haviland said.
The rink is located right next to Chubbuck City Hall, and is open for free every Friday through Sunday.
