Rexburg Animal Shelter Receives Big Grant

If you haven’t had your pet spayed or neutered, the Rexburg Animal Shelter is offering a special deal.

The city received a two-year grant from Petsmart Charities to cut the cost of the operation.

You must live in the city of Rexburg or an area immediately surrounding the city limits to receive the discount.

Officer Steve Buzzle says many vets in the area have also lowered their prices in addition to the grant discount.

Buzzle said you can get almost any animal done for less than $100.

“With 60 percent of animals out there who can reproduce, unfortunately it’s not enough to bring our euthanasia rates, down to zero.? Buzzle said. Until we have a zero percent euthanasia rate I will always say we need to spay and neuter animals.”

Ninety percent of animals that come to the shelter are not spayed or neutered, and more than 7 million animals are put down each year across the country.

If you are interested in bringing home another member of the family, the shelter is offering 25 percent off all black animals this month.

All animals at the shelter are spayed or neutered.
