Idaho Falls Man Charged In Rexburg Church Crash

A 24 year old Idaho Falls man faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving after his pickup crashed into the Summerwood Drive LDS church. Tyson Jack Moore turned himself in to Rexburg police Tuesday.

Capt. Randy Lewis said Moore admitted crashing into the building at 1 a..m. Tuesday. Lewis said Moore told police he left the scene because he did not want to be charged with drunk driving. Police said several containers of alcohol were found inside the 1990 Ford F-150 truck when the crash was discovered about an hour later.

Police reports stated the vehicle appeared to have been traveling west on Second North and left skid marks before jumping the curb, taking out a tree and striking the chapel.

Moore faces a March 20 court date.
