Michael Coats

Michael has worked for Local News 8 since 2006. Before coming to Idaho, he worked for KIFI’s sister station in Palm Springs California. Born and raised in the community of Hemet, Michael went on to attend college at California State University, Northridge. Michael then studied meteorology at Mississippi State University. Most of Michael’s time in the desert was spent behind the camera as an assignment editor and photojournalist.

Michael spends most of his free time keeping up with his wife Carissa and four children. His wife Carissa used to be a reporter with KIFI and is now an associate real estate broker. The Coats family loves to camp and swim in the warm Idaho Summer months.
