ATCO To Hire 150 Employees In Pocatello
A Canadian company said it will open a new manufacturing plant in Pocatello bringing more than 150 full-time jobs to the area.
ATCO Structures and Logistics announced Monday it will refurbish a 200,000 square foot plant in the Gateway West industrial park. The plant will produce modular workforce housing for use at the oil and mining fields where housing is needed.
?The Idaho plant will expand ATCO?s manufacturing capacity in the U.S. and will help meet growing demand for our products and services throughout North America,? said Harry Wilmot, ATCO’s president and chief operating officer. ?A committed and skilled workforce will be key to the plant?s success. As a result, ATCO will work with the local community to hire the most skilled trades people and production workers available.?
The company said it will hire many carpenters, plumbers and electricians.
Idaho Department of Labor Regional Economist Dan Cravens said, depending on where Atco sources its materials, these jobs could add an additional 50 to 100 jobs to the area.
Construction jobs are one of the sectors that have the highest reported unemployment,so this could put some deserving people back to work, Cravens said.
“This is a very nice addition to our cadre of companies that we see as high growth and high potential here in southeastern Idaho,” said Cravens.
The company hopes to start production in June.
ATCO will be holding a career fair April 23, 24, 25 at the Idaho Department of Labor office on 430 North 5th Ave. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Wednesdsay. Until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
