Allegiant Airlines To Charge For Carry-Ons

Flying on Allegiant Airlines is getting more expensive for anyone with carry-on luggage.

Starting Wednesday, the airline will charge up to $35 to place a carry-on bag in an overhead storage bin, according to airlinereporter.com.

Passengers will be allowed one free personal item like a purse, briefcase or laptop, but anything larger will require the carry-on bag fee.

Buying online would save you some money, but Allegiant hasn?t said how much yet.

For Idaho Falls Regional Airport traveler Monte Long, the charge is just wrong.

?It is hard on the travelers to pay extra all the time like that,? said Long. ?But the carry-ons ? it should be sacred.?

The change makes Allegiant the second major U.S. airline to charge for carry-ons after Spirit.
