Pocatello Boy Dies; Charges Against Father Being Reviewed

A 6-year-old Pocatello boy has died of injuries allegedly sustained at the hands of his father last week. The boy, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City last Thursday. Bannock County Prosecutor Mark Hiedeman confirmed the boy died at the hospital Sunday night.

The boy’s father, 27-year-old Anthony Blake Viles, was being held on charges of felony injury to a child after admitting he struck the child. Hiedeman says his office is now reviewing the case and will announce its next action Tuesday morning.
