Afton Was In Foster Care; Mother Opens Up About Charges

The story of 6-year-old Afton Allison continued Tuesday night.

Child Protective Services out of Washington confirmed that Afton had been placed in foster care, and that Anthony Blake Viles had taken over custody of Afton after a trial basis.

Afton’s mother, Jessica Wrigley, said she is glad Viles is getting charged with first degree murder. She said she wishes there could be a harsher punishment.

Wrigley wants people to remember who her son was.

She showed us the military uniform that he will be buried in, and said, she’s focusing on the fact that he was able to save 14 children through organ donations.

“He was a little beautiful boy who loved the army, loved anything camo. And he wanted to be a soldier when he grew up, just like daddy,” Wrigley said.

Wrigley opened up to this station about the experience of Afton being in foster care and why it happened, and we will be releasing the full version of that story on Wednesday.

Wrigley said she’ll be heading back to Washington on Wednesday.
